"Target" can be many things or one thing.
"Target" can also become a wrong focal point, ie focusing on the arms and neglecting its relation (and your proximity) to the center of gravity. It's what you pay your undivided attention to. Stomping on someone's foot can create a distraction and possibly open up opportunity, and it might not. Whatever your focal point may be, never lose sight of dominating the opponent's center of gravity and controlling all angles of attack and defense. Efficiency is always important.
