Thread: Evolution

    Evolution

There are three types of evolution in general in WCK lineages.

1, evolve center with the core WCK principle

2, evolve center with external to WCK applications

3, decay with repeating what one inherits.

    As example:

    A,

If you look at Ip Man's WCK, Ip was evolved out of Chan Wah's type of WCK toward YKS or SLT core type improving while clear out some of Chan Wah's Nam Kuen type...

If you look at Bruce Lee, Lee was evolved with external to the system applications.

If you look at most WCners who just practice as it is, they are decaying.

    B:

If you look at Koo Lo, and compare that with Chan Wah's WCK, one will see LJ is evolve back to the core SLT type while Chan Wah's evolve towards Nam kuen.

    C:
An example in Cho family is ,

take the present day same first section of the Yik Kam SLT set ,

the power generation, structure.....etc evolved into the following and thus due to different power generation and structure the applications will be different. and I believe everyone has a perfect reason on doing what they are doing.

Canton, China evolve toward Nam Kuen

Penang, Malaysia evolve toward Shao Lin

Kedah, Malaysia evolve toward Hung Gar

California, USA evolve toward White Crane and Emei

So, No one could avoid evolution. Only the direction of the evolution could be chosen.

This is why I don't bother myself with arguments of authentic versus fake. Evolution is guided by environment and fitness within that environment, so let all lines evolve how they wish, and let the environment show the merits/reward useful traits.

Yup. Evolutionary success is measured by what survives and grows, regardless of opinions of what constitutes progress or decay.

I used to do something similar with this decades ago while I was in college. just trim the tree in front of my college dorm to practice. I am testing it for sensitivity and springness, and foot work. But I always wear protective glasses because those flexible branch of the tree can slap back from different direction and in case my arm doesnt stick firm enough for it to slip through.

so who has yik kam guys been fighting to show or even actually evolve. How is exctally is what you are showing better. How would you know. Do you fight and train with other people or do you just look at forms over the net and think you are better.

    Concerning the vdo's above:

The first VDO is of a Sifu in Fatsan who picked up some Wing Chun from the Cho Family, so not Cho Gar Evolution in this case, per se.

The second VDO is indeed of a person from Nga Wu, who I know personally, he did Hard Hung Kuen for about 8 years before learning Cho Family arts. In this vdo he was only a begineer so again not evolution.

This is why watching clips on youtube can be misleading it is better to go to the source if you really want to comment correctly. Your opinion may seem correct for those who don't know or take these clips for more than what they are. I do no mean to say that evolution doesn't occur or is good or bad.

Unfortunately the Cho Family are still reluctant and secretive but we are hoping to change that over the next couple of years with the opening of the "Dak Sing Gwan" in Nga Wu. The Cho Family in China is very diverse and large so one will see different flavours if one went to visit.

    Hendrik,

Do you take drugs? Not like pain pills, but, like dropping acid, X, or smoking hash or doing mushrooms?
