Sure, the fittest survive...and they also get noticed. Resisting fatigue helps you outlast the competition, so when the dust settles you're the last man standing. Gauge your stamina with this isometric circuit, which requires you to hold the toughest point of three classic moves. Done weekly, it can also help boost the activity of the energy-producing structures in each muscle fiber, says David Jack, the owner of ActivPrayer in Phoenix, Arizona, and trainer in The Spartacus Workout DVD. The result: more power to not only move more iron but also crank out rep after rep.

American martial artist Marrese Crump will be starring in a new martial arts movie to be produced by Prachya Pinkaew (CHOCOLATE) and directed by Panna Rittikrai (BORN TO FIGHT).

Co-written by Anesti Vega (A SPANIARD’S TALE) and Crump, the film is called FORMLESS. According to a press release, it will deal with Crump’s “vision to blend great martial arts action with real combative strategies.”

Crump, who has already established himself in the film industry as an action choreographer for the DTV film WRONG SIDE OF TOWN, has been traveling extensively to recruit top martial arts and fighting talents. So far, it is confirmed that MMA fighter Anderson Silva and pro-wrestler Dave Bautista have been cast, as well as Capoeira master Cobra Mansa and Filipino Kali master Ray Dionaldo.

Kinetic 9, a protégé of Wu Tang Clan’s RZA, will be contributing to the soundtrack. Crump is listed on IMDb as being the action choreographer for RZA’s upcoming martial arts movie THE MAN WITH THE IRON FIST.

FORMLESS is expected to begin shooting in Thailand this winter.

These striking pictures capture row upon row of teenage boys moving in perfect, peaceful symmetry in China.
The budding martial arts experts were among nearly 2,000 performers taking part in a spectacular ceremony at the foot of the country's sacred Songshan Mountain.
Perfect unison: Hundreds of boys execute their martial arts moves in perfect unison at the school near the Shaolin Temple in China's Henan Province

The Zen Shaolin Grand Ceremony unfolded on Monday against the stunning natural backdrop of the peak, which is home to a famous 5th Century temple that has been hailed as the cradle of kung fu.

Monks, singers, musicians, dancers and local villagers were among those taking part in the visual feast close to the Shaolin Monastery near Dengfeng, in Henan Province.

Photographs from the ceremony capture hundreds of students from the Tagou School - the biggest martial arts school in China - executing a series of moves in perfect harmony.
Quiet strength: It is thought that martial arts were known and even practised at the Shaolin Monastery throughout its long history
Spiritual centre: The Shaolin culture is said to be unique in that it combines martial arts with Chan Buddhism - the Chinese equivalent of Zen Buddhism
United voices: Nearly 2,000 performers, including musicians, dancers, monks and local villagers, participated in the jaw-dropping ceremony at the foot of Songshan mountain

Others show monks demonstrating their meditation techniques during the ceremony, demonstrating how spirituality and martial arts have been intertwined in this picturesque corner of China for centuries.

It is thought that martial arts have been known and practised at the Shaolin Temple throughout its history, which stretches back to 495AD.

Shaolin Kung Fu techniques include five animal styles; the snake, crane, tiger, leopard and dragon.

Yeah, my knees aren't always thrilled. Not sure of the exact problem (I'm 33, in good health, average weight, life long non-smoker/drinker, eat well).

I read through A Tooth From the Tiger's Mouth and that seems to deal with more serious injuries. I don't believe that Dit Da Jow or Wood Lock oil are exactly what I want, either. My knowledge of topical oinments is limited to just those two.

Ideally, I'm more interested in something that will soothe the joint rather than a topical analgesic. I'm also prmarily interested in Chinese liniments, but all suggestions are welcome.

Question: After all this time, are serious TCMAists really still saying that their technique/system is too deadly to use in fight sports?
I said, "serious." Not goofy ch'i-ballers, and that guy with the double hammers, or the step guy...
It's just that I keep hearing this argument from MMAists...

It's just that I keep hearing this argument from MMAists about TCMAists, and I really don't think there are guys still using that tired argument, or they're just talking ONLY to the wrong people??dafuq?
